Tennis Surfaces
COURT TYPES
There are several main types of court surfaces including macadam, synthetic grass, synthetic clay, and acrylic tennis courts.
THE FOUR MAIN SURFACES

Hard courts are good general purpose all weather courts with optional colour coat. They are available for all standards of play and are our most popular surface.

Synthetic grass courts are a court suitable for both private and club use. They are aesthetically pleasing and simulate natural grass. They do require some maintenance.

Synthetic Clay
Synthetic clay courts are suitable for clubs and private individuals of all standards. This court type is ideal for coaching.

Acrylic
Acrylic courts are suitable for competitive and high class play. Mainly used at large tennis centres, this type of court has a non-porous surface.
SURFACE CHARACTERISTICS
Each playing surface has its own characteristics which affect the playing style of the game. We detail the available surface types below and explain their playing characteristics.
HARD COURTS
'TruBounce' Porous Macadam
Product Category
All-weather tennis surface.

Surface Type
A layer of open textured bitumen macadam with optional acrylic colourcoat. Permeable.

Play Characteristics
Medium paced surface producing a medium to high ball bounce. It is ideal for all levels of play.

Other Characteristics
Good all-weather performance with firm foothold in most conditions. It responds well to different types of spin particularly topspin.

'ProLawn' Synthetic Grass

Sand-filled artificial grass tennis surface.
Surface Type
Polypropylene tufted carpet with silica sand infill. Permeable.
Play Characteristics
Provides a medium/fast enjoyable game with excellent foot/surface grip. It simulates natural grass to a remarkable degree.
Other Characteristics
ProLawn offers comfort underfoot and is playable in almost any weather conditions. It fits unobtrusively into any location.
SYNTHETIC GRASS


'Advantage Tiger Turf' Synthetic Grass
Product Category
Sand-filled synthetic grass tennis surface.
Surface Type
Soft, dense texturised polyethylene monofilament.
Play Characteristics
Medium to fast paced surface providing excellent foothold in all weather conditions. Responds well to all types of spin and is suitable for all levels including tournament level play.
Other Characteristics
Advantage offers superior comfort underfoot and is aesthetically pleasing. Highly durable.
SYNTHETIC GRASS


Advantage Synthetic Clay
Product Category
All weather synthetic clay surface.
Surface Type
A short pile, sand filled surface that has been designed to replicate a clay court in both appearance and playing characteristics.
Play Characteristics
ITF 2 –Medium to slow paced surface playable in all weather conditions. Responds well to all types of spin and is suitable for all levels including tournament level play.
Other Characteristics
Looks remarkably like natural clay but playable all year round with minimal maintenance requirements.
SYNTHETIC CLAY


'Grand Clay 12' Synthetic Clay

All weather synthetic clay surface.
Surface Type
A short pile, sand filled surface that has been designed to replicate a clay court in both appearance and playing characteristics.
Play Characteristics
ITF 1 – Slow paced surface playable in all weather conditions. Responds well to all types of spin and is suitable for all levels including tournament level play.
Other Characteristics
Looks remarkably like natural clay but playable all year round with minimal maintenance requirements. Raised lines for increased visibility.
SYNTHETIC CLAY


'Matchpoint' Acrylic
Product Category
Indoor/outdoor, acrylic tournament tennis surface.
Surface Type
Multi-layer build-up of coloured, textured acrylic coatings. Impermeable.
Play Characteristics
The speed and height of bounce, and responsiveness to spin have become the standard by which other tennis surfaces are judged.
Other Characteristics
Matchpoint is robust and versatile, providing excellent foothold. Outdoors, rainwater runs off by laying the courts with a fall to catchment drains. Removal of excess water is required.
ACRYLIC


'Poraflex' Porous Acrylic

All-weather cushioned tennis surface.
Surface Type
Poraflex is a high performance water permeable cushioned acrylic surface.
Play Characteristics
Simulates an acrylic surface. Medium to slow pace producing a medium to high ball bounce.
Other Characteristics
Comfort underfoot and playable in most weather conditions. Reponds well to spin particularly topspin.
