Court sizes

 

• Standard domestic tennis court dimensions:
Length: 33.53m (110ft)
Width: 16.48m (54ft)*

• LTA recommended size:
Length: 34.75m (114ft)
Width: 17.07m (56ft)

• LTA full size:
Length: 36.58m (120ft)
Width: 18.20m (60ft).

For domestic use, overall court dimensions
of 33.53m x 16.48m are perfectly acceptable and the normal size of most private tennis courts.

 

Site access for construction

 

Your tennis court can be constructed successfully in almost any setting, even where access is restricted. While direct offloading beside the court area is ideal, we carefully manage deliveries from the nearest practical point and transport materials safely to site using specialist machinery.

 

Where access is limited, additional time and equipment may be required. Any related costs will always be clearly explained, ensuring you have complete transparency while we deliver the highest standard of workmanship.

Ground levels / conditions

 

Your court’s long-term performance begins beneath the surface. We carefully assess your soil and ground levels to design the right base and drainage solution, whether sandy, clay or sloped terrain. From managing earthworks and retaining walls to removing obstructions (where permitted), we handle every detail to create a stable, enduring foundation.

Topsoil on or off-site?

 

To give your new tennis court the strongest possible foundation, we remove all topsoil from the proposed area. Wherever feasible, we carefully redistribute it on-site to help keep your project cost-effective. If site constraints require off-site removal, we will clearly outline the associated disposal and landfill charges.

Planning permission

 

In most private gardens, planning permission is typically only required for the surrounding fence, with height rarely an issue. If your project involves a change of land use, such as from agricultural land, permission will be necessary and we can guide you through the process.

Services

 

Before construction begins, your peace of mind is paramount. We carefully assess the proposed court area to ensure there are no underlying services such as water, gas or electricity that could be affected. Should any utilities run through the site, we can coordinate their safe diversion where necessary.

Orientation

 

For the best playing experience, your court is ideally positioned north-south to minimise sun glare. However, if space dictates otherwise, we will design a layout that maximises comfort and performance.

Fencing

 

You can choose from a range of tennis court fencing specifications in classic green or black, tailored to complement your surroundings. Our standard 2.75m surround can include discreet drop sections to soften visual impact, with gate options designed for convenience. Traditional angle iron fencing is also available on request.

Construction time

 

On average the construction time for a new tennis court would be approximately 6 – 8 weeks which allows for the curing processes.

Disruption

 

We plan and manage our works carefully to keep disruption to your home, school or club to an absolute minimum, maintaining a safe and organised site at all times.

 

While the installation of a new tennis court does involve substantial groundwork and construction activity, you can be assured that our experienced team works efficiently and respectfully - and that your site will be left clean, tidy and ready to enjoy upon completion.
